About the San Francisco Bay Chapter

The San Francisco Bay Chapter is home to 40,000 Sierra Club members in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, and San Francisco.

The San Francisco Bay Chapter is comprised of eight local groups within the four counties; each group being led by volunteer members. The current volunteer leadership roster can be found here.

We have a rich and vibrant history. Some of our successes can be found on our Chapter History page

The Bay Chapter depends on volunteers. It is our volunteers that make it happen. They achieve fantastic results and are always looking for new partners. Please view our volunteer form and join people like yourself who believe in clean air, clean water and a healthy environment for the Bay Area.

The Bay Chapter enjoys some of the best hikes, events and outings in the country. Our Calendar of Activities is certain to have many items of interest to you. For the types of activities available, please visit our Activities groups.
